Cloudflare Web Analytics
The production site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to measure aggregate page views, referral sources, device and browser categories, country-level location, and real-user performance metrics. The purpose is to improve the publication, its distribution, and the reading experience.
According to Cloudflare, this service does not use cookies, localStorage, or sessionStorage, and it does not fingerprint or create persistent profiles of individual readers. Query strings are not recorded. The analytics script loads from static.cloudflareinsights.com, and measurements are sent to cloudflareinsights.com because this site is hosted outside Cloudflare.
Retention and legal basis
Cloudflare states that unsampled beacon data is retained for seven days and then reduced to aggregated samples for longer-term storage; the Web Analytics dashboard currently exposes the previous six months. This site does not maintain its own visitor-level analytics database.
The intended legal basis is the legitimate interest in understanding aggregate readership and improving the performance and relevance of this independent publication. The cookieless implementation is designed not to require access to information stored on a reader's device. This assessment must be revisited if the provider, collected data, or site functionality changes.
